The Big Bang - blogging!

Big BangWith the exponential growth in the amount of new bloggers worldwide each year, it seems that quality is sometimes a little bit hard to find… Blogging is being touted as a get rich quick panacea in which anybody can suddenly become an authority on anything they want and make truck loads of cash out of it. Let me say this… that is a total misconception! You cannot just start a blog and think that you are going to become rich over night. The supposed gurus who are telling you this are wrong!

Now, you may ask “Why are some people successfully making money by blogging?” There is a simple answer to this. They are successful because they are good at what they do! They write quality articles that are well researched and planned, they have vast experience in their particular niche and they are not greedy! These successful bloggers whom I am referring to are those that started their blogs with a genuine focus on creating something of value.

By switching your focus from making as much money as possible, to building a quality blog with a good base of readers, you can definitely become successful in the long run! The emphasis here is…the long run! Your focus should not be on the short term, people aren’t interested in reading what you have to say if they think you are going to be here and then gone in a couple months time.

This brings me to another point; don’t try to monetize your blog immediately! When people arrive at your site for the first time and all they can see is Google Adsense plastered all over, with only a three line article, they are not going to come back! Would you?

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there are now millions (if not hundreds of millions) of blogs out there and probably thousands of people writing about very similar stuff as you are, why then would anyone want to read what you have to say? The reason is up to you, are you going to create good quality content with a focus on your readers? If you are, then all that’s needed is some exposure and time, and you will eventually be successful!

If you disagree with something that I have said or you think I’m way off here, please feel free to let me know. I would love to hear from you either way. Post a comment or drop me a mail!

ANY successful blogger I have come across who is making large or small amounts of money from what they do is content driven, which would lead me to conclude that you CANNOT succeed in blogging by being financially driven.

Put yourself in your reader’s perspective - would you click on YOUR ads?

Absolutely! Well said… I agree with you totally, which is why I get so frustrated with some of the new blogs popping up all over that are full of ads but nothing worthwhile to read! Thanks for your comment :)

        @ John P: Perfect!

@ John J: I just wrote a post on finding inspiration by looking at the things you would NOT do. So many people looking to start a blog, do so in the hopes that they can make mega bucks overnight. This is obviously wrong.

The sad part is I feel that the Super-Bloggers have gotten lost too. They seem to have forgotten that the same people they continue to abuse with their bombardments of affiliate links and stupid softwares… are the very people that made them who they are today. They, like any other leader, should start taking note and do something about the degenerate based community they are creating.

I’ve been catching some flack myself as of late, because I refuse to put “The Piss Biscuit” into a niche. The real deal is that picking a niche and trying to compete, is simply silly. Just let it be and it will find it’s own way.

Bloggers should really try and get back into the groove of what made blogging so popular… and that’s real, genuine, ORGANIC content. Good, bad, or ugly, I’d rather read someones honest true blue opinion than some BS fabricated just make their readers happy… or worse, earn another two dollars for “the next best idea” post.

Visitors come and go. Your online reputation is there forever and people will remember you by it. Great post…

Oh, and absolutely. (In regard to your e-mail)

Thanks PB, great comment, very insightful! I’m with you 100% on this one. I don’t think there is anything wrong with making a living out of blogging, but only when your number one focus is the reader!

No problem sir. What’s a comment worth if it ain’t a good one? :-)

Friday In searching for sites with content on Squeeze Pages or Affiliate sites and specifically for become a super affiliate, I found your site to be useful and full of content.

Thanks Jim, I hope you come back for more soon! :)
