Take your blog mobile!
Tyler Reed and the guys from Unique have developed a pretty awesome Wordpress plugin that allows you to broaden your potential reader base to that of mobile users. Basically, from my understanding, the plugin will allow you to have a mobile version of your WordPress blog that is optimised for a particular mobile phone. They are also in the process of developing a plugin for the I-phone which will do something pretty similar.

The plugin already supports the iPhone. What is does is renders your WordPress blog as a mobile website/blog when you view it on a cell phone. You can also set specific templates for specific phones/browsers such as the iphone.

I especially like the idea that you can have different templates depending on the phone/browser. Very cool

But I do hear what you’re saying, in terms of reading blogs, it might still be a while before we see significant traffic through the mobile channel!

Posted on November 5th, 2008 at 7:17 pmWell people have been attempting to broaden the concept of mobile blogging for a while now… Several mobile phone manufacturers have included blog support for their devices, for example the “moblog” that comes with the Nokia S60 phones… Personally I think the only reason that it has not caught on is that it has not had enough exposure, this WordPress plugin is taking the world just one step closer to this mobile move that everyone is making…Just look at the number of web apps that are now available for our cell phones, it’s a brand new territory waiting to to explored and it’s great to see people like the guys at “Unique” at the forefront…
