The comeback…

It’s been a while since I have written anything on this blog (last post was in February I think), so I thought it was about time I put some of my thoughts up here and also update everyone as to my comings and goings over the past couple months.

Firstly, I have been quite busy lately. I started my second degree at the beginning of this year and it has been going quite well actually (thanks for asking). I also decided to take a job offer from a really awesome IT company based in Johannesburg (as their General Manager). I started working for Intdev Internet Technologies in June, and have been absolutely loving it! We’re an ISP with a lot of potential and a great culture, and we’re looking to grow quite rapidly over the next couple of years, so keep a look out for us!

So, what happened to my own ventures? Well, for now I am simply loving what I am doing, and this I believe is the most important thing…it doesn’t really matter to me at this stage whether or not I work for myself or for someone else, aslong as I am learning something and enjoying it. This view may change at some point in the future but it seems to be working for now :) . I will also still be available for questions and advice regarding your design and business problems (it’s usually free advice) and would love to hear from you.

Right, so now that we have gotten that out of the way, we can deal with an interesting question…what I am going to blog about? This blog has been positioned as a design blog and I have been relatively successful in terms of attracting attention to it through the really cool header that I designed, thus I think I will still try to keep up with web design theme here, but to a lesser extent. I will, however, be using this particular platform to build my personal brand and share my day-to-day experiences of running a dynamic IT business as well as managing people in a fast paced and rather energetic environment, and who knows…. I might even entertain and excite you in the process :)

Stay tuned for more soon….

Look after your customers!

The last post I wrote was about starting a business and then building it in such a way that you are geniunely interested in creating value for your customers. As I mentioned… your customers are not stupid, they know when you are geniune about wanting what’s best for them. Now, I have been a big fan of Adii for a couple months and I just read a post where he described this very situation.

With his business dealings, he receives a lot of emails with varying degrees or importance and relevence, however, he makes sure that he replies to each and everyone in a professional manner and places his customers first! What a great way to do business! Is it any wonder that he has such loyal customers and readers? Ofcourse not.

I can recommend to anyone who wants to start an online business to go check out Adii.co.za and read what he has to say, you might learn a thing or two!

Are you a serious blogger?

I’m really curious as to how many people who are blog readers, actually have their own blogs. I love reading other peoples blogs and it was that fact that inspired my to write my own. I think many people are just itching to start their own blog, but don’t know just how easy it really is. So, with that said… do you have a blog?

Scared of starting your own business?

Your business can grow!Starting your own business can be a rather daunting affair, but with the right kind of guidance and motivation, it’s not as difficult as it seems.A lot of your success will depend on your approach it this new venture of yours. First of all, will it be something that you really enjoy doing? Secondly, do you have the necessary skills to make a success out of it? Thirdly, do you have a plan?

This second point I made is not as vital as the first because as you might know, wherever a good idea is, skills and money will follow, but planning is key to your new venture. If all your plans are up in your head, that’s great…but get them on paper as soon as possible. Almost 90% of new businesses fail within in their first year; this is mostly due to a lack of planning.

Ok, so you are passionate about your idea, you have the necessary skills and you have done some extensive planning, now what? Well, you might say let’s go out and do it, but there are still quite a few things you need to cover. Having a plan is great, but is your plan good enough? The only way to find out is to ask someone. If you need some help or just a little bit of advice, feel free to check out what I have to offer. Services.
